Parents need to know that LEGO Batman: The Movie -- DC Superheroes Unite is a full-length animated movie, released direct to DVD, featuring the slightly humorous LEGO versions of the popular superheroes Batman, Superman, etc. The movie concentrates on thrills and fighting, with a huge Kryptonite-powered gun, and a giant (potentially scary) Joker robot, along with fighting, chasing, and explosions. The tone of the conflicts is always light and funny. The only other issue is consumerism: while there's no specific mention of toys for sale, it will be clear to kids that the entire movie is an ad for LEGO superhero toys. (The DVD even comes with a Clark Kent/Superman figure.) Still, this is a much more age-appropriate fare for superhero fans 8 and up than stuff like Batman: The Dark Knight Returns.
The movie looks great and moves well, using its 71 minutes wisely. It has time for both thrills and humor without feeling rushed or forced, and the characters are funny and likeable. The only real issue is that it takes place, more or less, within the real superhero universe, and fans may balk at the somewhat jokey treatment of their heroes. Otherwise, though the movie doesn't specifically mention toys for sale, it's hard to escape that the entire thing plays like a toy ad.
Superman recovers his strength and he and Wonder Woman try to save Wayne Tower, while the others battle the Joker robot on top, sending it plummeting onto the street below. With the robot destroyed, the Joker and Luthor (now wearing power armor) come out to fight the heroes, but are ultimately defeated, while Green Lantern rebuilds Wayne Tower's supports, stabilizing it. As the two villains are arrested, Gordon thanks Batman for saving the day, to which he admits he could not have done it without his friends' help, and that he is glad to have friends that he can always count on. As the League prepare to rebuild the Batcave, Green Lantern shoots a beacon from his power ring into space in victory. The beacon is seen by an otherworldly being, who utters \"I have located it\", ending the movie.
It's a testament to how well-made the video game Lego Batman 2: Superheroes Unite is that large chunks of the \"story\" scenes can be repurposed and matched with new material so seamlessly that it's difficult to tell that any part of the new direct-to-DVD movie Lego Batman: The Movie -- DC Superheroes Unite was ever intended for anything other than a slick computer-animated movie.
The special features are kind of a grab-bag, including an episode of the Teen Titans cartoon, two episodes of Batman: The Brave and The Bold and the top five entries in a stop-motion Lego DC superheroes film-making contest, all of which lack the polish of the feature film (obviously) but make up for it in restoring the DIY pleasure of building an adventure with your own two hands... and several thousand little plastic bricks.

\"Whats Green and in your wallet\"\"Money\"\"Not anymore!!!!\"This game was my childhood, adding additional scenes and voicelines to make a movie was genius. I just replayed some of the game and man it took me back. The stars are mostly for the game but the voice acting it this movie is actually pretty great, the riddler is mostly the stand out. I also just rewatched the Batman animated series and its one of my favorite shows. I'm gonna rewatch mask of the Phantasm soon. Man Batman stuff is so cool. I think DC is far superior to Marvel in many ways, except its movies. The shows and characters are so cool, mainly the villains of DC. I love DC villains, I'm glad DC is making some good movies now.
This is a different movie than the more recent Lego Batman- but still great! This is in the group of a couple of other Lego DC Super Heroes movies, which I also think are great. It is a different story (not a remake (premake)), and excellent in its own right. Yes, there are superficial similarities, but it's not the same at all. [obvious spoiler alert] Sure, Batman and other superheroes fight Lex Luthor, Joker, and other villains; there's an escape from Arkham; villains interrupt a gathering and try to find the Batcave, but many other times does all that happenIt's a few years older and doesn't have the flagship moviestar voice talent as the recent one, but they do a great job.Favorite quote from Joker: \"Look, it's Bat-lame and Slobbin'!\" more less
Once again, a large collection of super villains feature inthis fifth Lego movie, including the likes of Lex Luthor, Man-Bat, and the Joker, amongst others. But who will face them The Justice League of course!
Feature-length animated adventure set in a Lego version of Gotham City. When Lex Luthor (voice of Clancy Brown) struggles to gain public support during his presidential campaign he decides to team up with the Joker (Christopher Corey Smith), who can produce a special gas that will sway public opinion. After Luthor helps the Joker escape from Arkham Asylum, the pair plan to defeat Batman (Troy Baker) and Superman (Travis Willingham) and bring down Gotham City. The rest of the Justice League join forces with the two superheroes as they fight to save the city. 59ce067264
